I have been writing poetry since I was 15 years old, maybe earlier, who knows, but I remember it becoming a thing that I did on a regular basis around 15. I like to express my thoughts and tell my story through poetry. I wrote about all of it, my crushes, how much I hated my first job, how at times I felt like I wanted to end my life because I was not satisfied with the way my life was at the time. You can see my evolution as a person, through my evolution as a poet.

As a poet I invented words, words like Poetriot – (a poet true to their style), I organized events, such as read-ins and slams, I dawned the local papers many times (my poems, me, my events), I inspired and encouraged, I self-published poetry books, I nervously performed at events (Jazz festivals, etc.) and in churches, etc., etc., etc.

I am proud of my poetic journey. I may not be the best of the best, I get that, but I am who I am, and I do what I can, with what I’ve got.

“Poetry is emotion, passion, love, grief—everything that is human. It is not for zombies by zombies.”

F. Sionil Jose

…or something like this:

“Poetry is eternal graffiti written in the heart of everyone.”

Lawrence Ferlinghetti

So, I’ll be sharing with you here, my poems and other poems by other poets I enjoy, when the feeling hits me. Enjoy!!!!
