At first, I wanted to go out, but then I changed my mind. I did that because there were many reasons that I thought doing it the way we did would be the best possible way to spend our anniversary this year and make everyone happy.

It was supposed to rain (Sunday), but it didn’t. The Super Mario Bros. movie came out on streaming, costing about $25 to rent and $30 to buy. I wanted to take the kids to the cinema to watch it, but I figured the next best option was to buy it for them, which would be a more substantial investment.

I gave up my anniversary outing to buy them this movie and make a family movie event out of it, among other reasons. We set up a movie snack table. I showed a Youtube video featuring family movie trailers and surprised them with the movie we bought them. They were expecting a different movie. They were very happy about the surprise.

We ate a lot of no-prep supermarket goodies all-day- muffins, cheese wrapped in deli meat (prosciutto, salami, pepperoni), a cheese, meat (salami, pepperoni), and crackers platter, fruit, frozen pizza (the kids), salad, smoked salmon, rose-shaped strawberry ice cream in a cocoa-flavored waffle cone, cheesecake, and snacks (Cheetos, etc.).

We watched movies such as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” on Disney+ and “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” on Paramount+. They were both good movies. Then we watched 2 episodes of “Resident Alien.”

Saturday (the day before), we went Supermarket shopping for our no-prep foodstuff. When we got home, we put the stuff away, made soup, the kids cleaned, then my husband and I watched “The Man Called Otto,” on Netflix. It was a very emotional film.

Early Saturday morning, before it rained (it was supposed to rain all weekend), we worked on the cottage garden. “Latisha’s garden” (Faith Garden, Hope Garden). Before we started on continuing to clean it up, I recorded a video for my online Vlog, “Tish Talk,” as I took a walk through the garden that morning.

I decided to plant all my open packets of seeds to see what would happen. I planted summer squash, zucchini, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, nasturtium, and marigold seeds. We also got design ideas for the gardens; the Front Part-shade garden and the Cottage garden.

The kids had a cold bug spreading among them since the middle of last week; runny noses, low energy, etc. They did not do school on Thursday or Friday. This enabled me to focus on other things. Thursday, I was feeling restless and unmotivated. I wasn’t sure what to do with my time. I think I ended up starting to declutter the kitchen, throwing away some things and packing a container to give some things away.

This morning was chilled; I gave the kids some leftovers from yesterday’s cheese, meat & crackers platter, fruit, and a snack. I once again ate smoked salmon and salad. My husband and I watched the first episode of “Rainn Wilson and The Geography of Bliss,” which was good.

And I’m thankful.
